This Will Put a Smile On Your Face

Best Christmas Pageant Ever Was Totally Awesome

Special thanks to the entire cast of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
for putting on a wonderful play – we are very humbled that you honored
Maggie with your performance.

The past few weeks have been
quite tough emotionally. This past year is finally catching up to Kathi
and I as we have begun to wrestle with some things in our hearts from
the last several months. There is sadness, grief, thankfulness,
weariness, anxiety, and a general heaviness that is difficult to put in
to words. Lamenting is the closest word I can get to.

We have a lot of healing to do in our family. I pray that God will continue to give us “rest”.

Tonight was such a huge blessing in helping us to laugh again. Thank you.

SPECT Results In, Good News

We finally got the news we’ve been waiting months for, and it is a fantastic Christmas present.

Because Maggie has remained stable for the last month, we were finally able to get a seizure-free SPECT test. This test, combined with the seizure-based SPECT that was done in August, proved two regions in her brain that have seizure focus – the high anterior frontal lobe region and the right insular cortex. The third region that was present during the first test canceled out.

This is great news as it finally gives the doctors targetable regions for invasive monitoring, which will help the doctors decide what they are able to do surgically to help Maggie long term (surgically remove the problem areas, hemisphereotomy, etc). Next year will be a very interesting year….

Assuming Maggie remains stable and stays out of the hospital, nothing will be done with these results for several months, as the doctors wish to give Maggie some much needed rest. This rest is very important for Maggie’s mental and physical well-being, not to mention the mental well-being of her parents.
